Another new toy, acquired in January 2014 to replace the old A80 which appears to be messed up.
This is a simple and extremely compact point & shoot that Ye Olde Photographer will use for non-critical work when he doesn't want the financial risk of carting the more exotic digitals around. At 16MP, and with an 8:1 optical zoom it should cover a range of uses.
The ELPH 115 lacks raw file output and certainly does not have the wealth of external controls available on the G15 and EOS40D. The lens is considerably slower also, ranging from f/3.2 at the wide end to f/6.9 at the telephoto. It does have image stabilization. And of course it does have video, something YOP has never gotten into.
So it will lurk in Ye Olde Photographer's tool bag at the ceramic studio and serve as backup in traveling light situations (although maybe now not so much since YOP got himself a "smart" phone).
