An early farmstead in Lower Salford Township, now a park and historic site. The associated mill is on the other side of the road and has become a private residence.

These pictures were taken during a Lower Salford Historical Society Christmas season tour in 2011. Some of the decorations and furnishings seen may be just for the event. And almost no original furnishings are here, as the last resident had an auction of the contents.

It is somewhat sobering in this era of couch potatoes regarding a cushy life as an entitlement to look back at the history of this farm. The last resident was a widow who lived here alone for a number of years until she was just shy of 90. This was in the 1980s, at which time the house still had no indoor plumbing. Clothes were washed by building a wood fire under a cauldron in the separate wash house to heat the water - a bit of living history!
