B & J 4x5 Pinhole Camera

Photos taken with a pinhole (lens-less) camera. Check the Oldies Gallery for large format shots taken with an honest-to-goodness lens!

The first row shows the weaponry.

The 5, 6 & 7.5 inch shots are different pinhole to film plane settings attempting to check pinhole diameter optimization. The details are one square inch of the previous shots scanned at 1200 ppi and reduced to 600 x 600 for these JPEG files. The film was Ilford Delta 100 for that series. The 100 speed allows longer, more manageable exposures.

Since the 6 and 7.5 inch shots in the previous test series were pretty close, we did a second test at 6.5 and 9 inches. It does appear that the nine inch is past optimum (Rayleigh was right!)

The B&J-Hole camera was used for WPPD 2005, WPPD 2006 and again for WPPD 2009.
