While the Argus Day festivities seem to be fading a bit, a few diehards decided to follow through anyway. Truth be told, such cameras should be used periodically to keep the mechanics limbered up. For 2009, Ye Olde Photographer used a roll of Kodak Ektar 100, a recently released C-41 color negative film with extremely fine grain and fairly bold color. ISO 100 is a good speed for the C-3, as it has a maximum shutter speed of 1/300 and may be prone to overexposure with 400 or 800 films outdoors. The film was processed and scanned at a local pro shop.
Amidst threatening continuation of the turbulence that produced nearly two inches of rain earlier in the morning we managed to spend a bit of time outdoors. A visit to Phoenixville offered some more shots at The Foundry, as well as a chance to check up on construction of the new PA Route 113 bridge over French Creek. Real sunlight was somewhat hazy and intermittent. After a number of shots there, an attempt to relocate to another site encountered darkening skies and severe thunderstorm warnings, so we called it a day. Some semblance of blue sky happened on the 10th, so the roll was finished closer to home, hoping to get at least a hint as to how Ektar might deal with a nice sunny day!
The two pictures submitted to the Argus Day folks are amongst those found HERE. More shots of Phoenixville and The Foundry are in the Phoenixville gallery.
Simultaneously with this exercise, a Canon F-1, unused in the ten years or so it has been here, was loaded with a partial roll of Kodak PX125 to see if it worked. See the Canon F1 gallery.
