IC 1396a: The Elephant's trunk

The Elephant's Trunk is a dark globule of interstellar dust, within the much larger emission nebulae IC 1396 in the constellation Cepheus.

This is a mixed focal length image, the Luminance/Ha being captured with the C 9.25" Edge@ f/10 and the chrominance (Ha/OIII/SII) with the SVR90T.

Mount: Avalon M-Uno Fast Reverse
Luminance: Filters: Astrodon 5nm Ha,
Exposure: 5 hours (20 minute subs, binned x 2)
Chrominance: Ha mapped to red, OIII to green and SII to blue.
Exposure: Four hours Ha, 1.5 hours SII, three hours OIII in 20 minute subs.
Processing: CCD Stack and PS CS2
