Please note that I organized the pictures in sub-galleries, some with a particular part of the collection, some organized according to the court that the palaces holds.

This gallery keeps growing, since I often return to this fine museum, that is always changing. Some pictures are from slides, from the early 1990's. Their colours are a bit strong and not always correct, Kodachrome is a difficult film to handle.

I along with my wife, son and daughter-in-law visited this historic museum only last week. The visit left memorable imprint on all of us. We saw the golden throne Nadir Shah had carried away from Delhi. Innumerable captivating gems, jewels and ornaments, received as gift from many friendly rulers of many countries, or prize from conquest of many countries by Ottoman rulers have added further lustre to the treasures of the museum. I wish we could spend more time there for closer and elaborate reading. The Turks can genuinely take pride of the museum. A. K. Biswas, Calcutta, India

Wonderful pictures. I have some pictures taken about 40 years ago, including the dagger encrusted with emeralds, the gold sofa encrusted with pearls and rubies, etc. ; as well as a series of the Kariye Djami Byzantine mosaics, already damaged then by guards removing stones to give to visitors.

This is really nice palace for able understand how ottoman goverment was big and rich. We are living at hungary and some of our history coming from turkey. It was great time at istanbul to check this history from more close. We were so happy to having some same ottoman historical colletion at budapest and estergon. If you you think one day to come around here and check them the side which migth help you. thanks again for nice picture www.budapestetur.com

Thank you for your beautiful photographs of Topkapý Palace. I specificly needed certain photos of the palace, the ones showing the old Ottoman inscriptions above the main three gates, to help my lectures on the Ottoman script. I searched for them at the official web site of the Palace Museum, but found none, instead very poor photos there! what a pity. Your photos really helped. Thank you for sharing them.

Thank you for the beatiful pictures of Topkapi. My son & I were there in July 09 & I was enthralled by the Holy Relics ..wish I could have taken pictures of them. My son was somewhat skeptical of some things being authentic (he's 19) but it's my belief & Faith that I did actually see the staff of Moses & the arm of John the Baptist! Istanbul is amazing & I'll definitlly go back sometime. The people were so gracious. My other favorite place was Hagia Sophia so glorious & difficult to describe. How did they do that ?

I took some pictures when picture taking was allowed but indeed now it is not. The set up has been rearranged also. Still many people take them anyhow using their mobile phones. My camera is too conspicious. And having smelled the footprint of Muhamed - still smelling after all those years, of perfume i would say - they keep in Mardin i have had enough relics to last me a lifetime (did i mention i also saw pieces of the cross that held Jesus, and of course the manger that he slept in, and all that?)

hi.. i'm from indonesia. istanbul is sooo beautiful.. i just back from istanbul a few months ago.. regarding photo of relics that had been asked... mmmh... as far as i remembered, it is all put in room that had sign no picture(no camera), no video recording etc... and about the hair of prophet muhammad it's also guarded, so just to see it, is very hard because of the crowd.. there is a lot of people wants to see it...

Your photos are breathtaking! The textiles, porcelain, tiles and other art are breathtaking! Thanks for helping me revisit these sites and sights. Captions would be helpful if you ever get around to it. My 2 days in Istanbul in 2007 were memorable but nowhere near enough, and if i don't get back then i'll visit it in my dreams.

Regarding the pasting of whatever pictures: I do not paste, I take pictures. SInce I did not take pictures of the swords that are displayed I cannot show them.

I have seen Topkapi Istanbul in 1994. You have added beautiful pictures. Would you please paste photos of the swords of Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him ) and his four Caliphs (radhiullah) that have been displayed in Top Kapi. That would add to beauty of your website. These are lovely pictures but except for a few, most aren't captioned. So, one has to keep guessing which part of the palace the photo is showing or the historical connections of the various relics.

I was for only a week in Istanbul some two tears ago with my wife . This Queen City remains in my heart as a dream and I wish renew my visit as soon as possible.

Hi feizel i do have a picture of a hair in a container somewhere in my slide collection and i seem to recall some swords. but i have a backlog with scanning slides and i just took fresh pictures in Turkey - from where i write now - so it may be a while.

i am from south africa and i have been informed that this museum has kept relics from the time of our prophet mohammed ( pbuh) eg garments, letters, even his hair sample. could you place some of these photos on this site.

I was sent the links to your gorgeous photos of Türkiye by a Turkish friend. We lived in Ankara for 2 1/2 years in the mid-1980s. The people are gracious and hospitable; the history of the country fascinating; and one of the best countries for a photographer like me. I have MANY slides of the country, which I have visited several times since we moved. Thank you for posting your photos for those of us who miss Türkiye and our Turkish friends. Mary Alice Murphy

I like your pictures very much. They are taking me to places from which I am far away. But don`t be angry about words like `the greatest`or `the best in the world`. For US Turkey IS the most beautiful, most amazing and most lovely country in the world ( although we know that not everything is always perfect !) and therefore we defend every little ``turkish stone`´.It`s just true love...!

I noticed that the last text is directly from the Wikipedia, or conversely, was put into the Wikipedia by my guest. I do not like this kind of cross-referencing to sources that are its own source. Also, writing in the Wikipedia myself, please improve the English. A sentence like "Because jewels of women were their own goods" is close to being incomprehensible. And I get a bit tired of all those "biggest in the worlds" that some of my guests lay claim to. To me it just proves they don't know the world.

Tourists cannot see any jewels which for women in Enderun Treasure of Topkapi Palace.Because jewels of women were their own goods.However, most of the jewels of men belong to the Palace.Although most of the pieces were stolen, The Enderun Treasure is the biggest national treasure in the world. And you may GUESS the THIEVES (HINT: They are from EUROPA).
