I had the pleasure of seeing some of my earlier Antakya pictures printed in the Neue Zürcher Zeitung, a "quality paper" from Zürich, Switserland, in March 2005. As coincidence would have it, I was in Antakya at about the same time, and took some more pictures of the spectacular work of the smiths, some of whom had figured in the newspaper pictures. I had worried that maybe the "old style" pictures could not be taken anymore, that modern industrial methods had taken over. They hadn't, though the work is now being done at the fringe of town, rather than in the centre, as used to be the case.
The earlier pictures I took on expensive slide film, just two or three, this time the flash card would hold 350 or so - at no extra cost - so I made some series.
