Though I have repeatedly stated that I take the pictures I like, and don't react to pressure to take this or that picture I became interested in some areas I had hardly visited before, and that are "the modern Ankara" in the minds of many commentators. So here are the results of a stroll in September 2006 that started at the Kızılay square, heart of a big shopping area, then on to Atakülesi, a 125 meters high tower on a hill, providing fine views (on the way up passing many government buildings, some of decent architecture, none of which I could take a picture of: forbidden - a security guy stopped me at one point). Then back into the city.
If any Ankaralı people know the name and such of this or that subject: please comment.
Thanks for the street and building pictures Dick, it's rare to see the "general life style of people" (my term) pictures sometimes for people like me living abroad. I'm planning to return back to Ankara where my family lives after living abroad for some years and getting used to it. i don't know if it will be difficult for me to adapt to Turkey after getting used to the life style in California. However i'm happy i'll have the chance to show my people to understand western approach; we still have long roads to go i guess.
