Lower part of a monument to Porphyreus who lived at the end of the 5h, beginning of the 6th century AD, he was a very successful and revered charioteer, so popular 7 monuments were erected on the spina of the hippodrome. The statues on top of the bases have been lost.
Found (excavated) in the second court of the Topkapı Palace.
The inscription mentions emperor Anastasius (491-518) as initiator of the monument.
