The city has a "divided" feel, since there runs a (in summer almost dry) river between two sides. I was told that the other side from where I stayed held the old town, that however suffered so much damage from an earthquake that no old buildings remained (I tried finding some anyhow and failed, there may be some remains that I overlooked). There seemed to be a large and modern extension of the city at that other side too, but I did not visit it.
