From the perystilium of the House of the Menad. A sea creature with the fore parts of a goat and the hind parts of a fish, facing towards the left, the fore legs are in the shape of goats’ legs. Surrounding it are fish. The long neck has been damaged. In antiquity it was believed that creatures such as this actually lived in the sea.
