Sun and Moon gods standing on a lion.
This limestone relief was located at the Great Stairways to the Citadel of Carchemish/Karkamış (on the Euphrates River and on the Turkish-Syrian border, c. 25 km south of Birecik).
Neo-Hittite sculpture in mixed style: traditional Hittite (the gods) and Aramean (the lion); from 950-850 BC.
