The museum identifies this as "Architectural panel, 5th – 6th century AD"
I wonder if this represent Daniel with a lion, which would fit nicely with the grave elsewhere in town.
I think here is a fair chance the piece started "life" as (part of) an ambo, or similar part of a church choir.
