During the month of December 2007 I went to Bileçik(about 100 kilometers as the crow flies from Bursa, expecting an old town with some worthwhile monuments. However, I found the town had a busy industrial aspect (porcelain, aluminum industries and probably quite some more), and an overall modern aspect. Hotels charged outrageous prices which was not very stimulating either. The surrounding country was fine, but as the day was short I had to spend whatever time I had reaching first a nearby village (Vezirhan, for its han, which turned out to be under a restoration that to me looked like a rebuilding from the ground up), and then the one monument of Bilecik itself: the Orhan Cami (early Ottoman, one dome, early 14th century) and the nearby türbe for Edebali (14th century too). The complex was very peaceful in the falling dark, very well-situated on a peak it must be great on a sunny day.
