I have been castigated for showing pictures of Hasankeyf, without showing any of Batman, which I used as a base camp. I was informed that Batman by itself was a fine town. Well, I did not see it that way, but when I revisited it in June 2010 (to, maybe for the last time, pay a visit to doomed Hasankeyf before the Ilisu dam project will submerge that age-old river town), I decided to at least show some pictures of Batman. The town strikes me as modern and nothing but, I found no building I’d consider “old”. It is a large town though, well into the 300.000 inhabitants, and as I only went on foot, I can only show some of the buildings along the main thoroughfare, and some shots from in- and outside a shopping mall. I can imagine life will be fine for people living in the town, it’s spacious, rather well designed, has a good feel. But that’s it for me.
