A Shachihoko statue near the Ote-mon Gate of the Imperial Palace - Tokyo

A Shachihoko is an animal in Japanese folklore with the head of a tiger or dragon and the body of a carp. Supposedly it protected structures from fire by causing rain. Miniature versions often are found on the roofs of structures such as temples and castles. Several of those miniature versions are on the buildings next to the gate.
