This has been a most unsual winter, a lot warmer than usual the first two weeks in December, then cold, then the January thaw seemed to last the entire month. The unseasonable weather has completely changed the habits of our local wildlife, we aren't seeing the usual winter visitors, primarily our year round residents. Feb and March have been colder, some snow, but mostly dark, gloomy and rainy. All photos are taken handheld from inside, through a south facing insulated window.

----Jan 7th and Jan 14th Finally some snow! Very little, but enough to brighten the light.
----Jan 15th Sun and blue skies!!! Time for the circular polarizer, now they are truly "backlit" images.
----Feb 11th and Feb 28th The Downies have been a regular visitors to the Peanut Butter Pudding Log, and have now been joined by the Nuthatches, Titmice, and Chickadees.
----Mar 21st and 22nd A little snow, a little sun, a lot of activity...but still not much color. This is the first Female Towhee I have seen.
----Mar 24th The Male Towhee is still around, and of course the Male Cardinal. At least it's some color in the midst of all this dreariness. :)
----Mar 28th & 29th Male Goldfinch getting his summer colors (he looks awful right now) and our first Eastern Phoebe (one shot only, cropped, buzzed, and framed)
