with that knobby cap it reminds of amanita mushrooms, of which there are many kinds...cool shapes and colour patterns in the image..

Yes, the textures and patterns are wonderful in this woodsy shot. I don't know a lot about fungi, and nothing about Australian mycology, but this does remind of one of the Pholiotas we get here. V
