Staurogyne (Staurogyne spatulata)

A ground cover in the family Acanthaceae.
The flowers are open the morning but closed later on in the day.
Staurogyne is native to lowland woodlands, often swampy, in far northern Australia.
The plant was given to me by a friend, recommended as a butterfly food plant for which it has occasionally been successful.
It has established well in my garden and self-propogates here and there.
A close relative (same genus) is used as an aquarium plant.

Soft and lovely colors, hard to tell the size, but they look large compared to the leaves.
