Luster Creek valley

'Tis late in the dry season: the grass is tinder-dry but deep-rooted trees are flushing new growth as if in anticipation of the coming tropical wet season.
This photo was taken on Brooklyn Wildlife Sanctuary in Far North Queensland.
The Sanctuary is managed by Australian Wildlife Conservancy, a private conservation organisation ( https://www.australianwildlife.org/where-we-work/brooklyn/ ).
Its 59,000 ha covers an extraordinary rainfall gradient from mist-enshrouded rainforest mountain peaks to semi-arid tropical savanna and hosts over 1,500 species of plant.

What a marvelous chunk of wilderness - interesting that it's private.

A huge sanctuary (good!) covering a diversity of habitat. What a fantastic place it would be to visit. Love this panoramic view .... and not a sigh of human habitation in sight, excellent! V
