Molasses Grass (Melinis minutiflora)

best viewed at original size

A common non-native grass of disturbed forest edges around my home town, this species is not-so-steadily making its way deeper into the forest, where it replaces a diverse ground layer with a monoculture.

Invasive but it makes for a very compelling composition.

Makes for a fascinating image. Very nice work with a difficult subject. "V"

Very attractive grass, in color and angle, and nicely captured.

Oh dear, hope it doesn't become another lantana Don!

The angle of the grass definitely shows a marauder marching through the forest. I'm assuming it's the color that gives it the name molasses.
