The loud, ringing calls of the Pied Currawong area a feature of the forests of eastern Australia.
These are versatile birds, equally at home hunting reptiles, raiding nests, catching larger insects or eating fruit.
Currawongs are members of the Australasian family that includes butcherbirds and Australian magpies but also the superficially-dissimilar woodswallows.
