Xanthorrhoea resinosa

This species occurs in swampy coastal heathlands in south-eastern Australia.
Note that the shrubbery in the background has been killed by fire. It is likely that the grass-trees have grown a new crop of leaves since the fire and also been stimulated by it to flower.

Very painterly! It would look good on a wall.

Amazing "forest". Australia, the continent of surprises :-)

Fires do seem to make grasstrees flower. The burnt scrub makes a different background.

A peculiar looking plant, a bit like a cattail, a bit like a giant timothy grass. An effective image.
