Desert Sand Goanna (Varanus gouldii flavirufus)

I came across this guy as I was driving along a remote and overgrown track in a dis-used portion of a cattle station on the southern fringe of the Tanami Desert in the Northern Territory of Australia.
I doubt it had ever seen a person before. It remained frozen to the spot even as I stepped out of the car to photograph it.
