1910 - 1920 the Cardale Tower on the Miami River

Miami River, Miami, Florida


The tower's name probably came from the adjacent Cardale Grove. In another photo on this site, the sign near the bottom of the tower says that admission to the tower and telescope was 25 cents. This tower was just to the east of the Musa Isle Fruit Grove on the Miami River next to the Cardale Grove.

I just added another photo of the tower and visible on the left of that photo is a sign stating "Musa Isle Fruit Grove" which indicates that the tower was just to the east of that grove. Another sign in the photo, at the base of the Cardale Tower, says "Cardale Grove."

Was this the same tower that was at "Musa Isles"? 27 ave where it crosse the Miami River?

Can find no reference to navigational aid, perhaps because river was traversable without such aids.

Research uncovered the name "Lawrence E. Will" who authored 5 books on the everglades and south florida.

According to one of the books on Florida history it was used to view the everglades, and was a little bit east of the Miami rapids. I think the book was "a dredgemans history of cape sable" . I don't remember his name though.
