I flew on Chalks with my Mother and Father in April, 1979. I will never forget my mother panicking as we taxied down that ramp into the water, as she thought we were only landing in the water at Cat Cay, not taking off in the water from Miami, and that this was an accident. I also remember the just exiled Shah of Iran had been at Cat Cay the week before. Our waiter there said he was a great tipper.

I worked for Chalks for one summer, constructing the engine work stands used to service the huge engines. The designer and mechanic who got them started had to leave for a while and sub-ed it out to me to finish. Hard work surrounded by beautiful scenery.

My uncle James Cothron was a pilot for Chalks . He was the pilot shot in the hijacking in 1972.
