I was promoted from SN to YN3 in December 1967 and transferred from CG Station Lake Worth Inlet to recruiting duty in Tampa where I served until my four year one month (voluntarily extended one month) active duty enlistment ended in July 1970. I was promoted to YN2 in July 1968.

Back then, CWO4's at District assigned enlisted men within the District and CWO4 L. M. Roehr convinced me to take the Yeoman promotion instead of taking orders to Journalist School at Ft. Benjamin Harrison, Indiana, in the middle of the winter.
