OBITUARY FOR CLAIR A. SHERRICK

CLAIR A. SHERRICK, 75, died at 8:30 a.m.. May 26, 2005, at Otterbein-Cridersville.

He was born April 9, 1930, in Lima to Clifton M. and Naomi Burris Sherrick, who preceded him in death. On April 20, 1950, he married Mary E. McDonnell, who survives in Hollywood, Florida.

Mr. Sherrick had been general manager of Kendall-Tamiami Executive Airport and a ramp supervisor at Miami International Airport. He had also worked at Lima Vistron and Lima Sohio Refinery. He was a graduate of Lima Central High School. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War serving aboard the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt. He had a passion for trains, especially steam engines, and was an avid model train collector. He enjoyed fine woodworking and had a great appreciation for music. He was a very compassionate man with a gentle heart. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He had been living at the Wyngate Senior Living Center for the past year, where he had become friends with many of the residents and caregivers, especially Jessica and Glenda.

Survivors also include a son, John (Kathy) Sherrick of Elida; three daughters, Nancy (Paul) Hilden of Lima, Susan (Al) Munro of Hollywood, Florida, and Lori (Joel) Bryan of Miami; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Gordon Sherrick.

Services will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at Chiles & Sons-Laman Funeral Homes, Shawnee Chapel. Pastor Arthur Wilde will officiate. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Delphos, with military rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m.. today and one hour prior to services Saturday at the funeral home.
