Both ladies are grads of the Class of 1965 at Hialeah High. Liz also went to Immaculate Conception Catholic school with me in 6th and 7th grade. Pam also went to Palm Springs Jr. High the same time I was there in 8th and 9th grades. After 34 years of waiting, and numerous Heinekens that evening, I finally had enough nerve to put my arm around Pam. Sadly, less than one year later, Pam lost her mom Betty Martin, 69, and her beautiful younger sister Bonnie, 44, (who also went to Palm Springs Jr. and Hialeah High School) in the tragic explosion of TWA Flight 800 off of Long Island, NY, that killed 230 passengers and crew on July 16, 1996.
Little Flower Children's Services of New York recently named an important new building under construction and program after Bonnie Wolters and Betty Martin. The infirmary-respite building will be known as the "Bonnie and Betty's House" in honor of Pam's mom and sister.
