Ginny and Ray drove down from Clearwater for my Aunt Norma's funeral at the end of August 1999.
Originally from Illinois Ginny and Ray moved down to Hollywood to open a hamburger restaurant on Federal Highway just south of Sheridan Street in Hollywood in the 1963-64 time frame. It was called "Ray's Burgers" and I went there a couple of times with my buddies and his hamburgers and fries were unbelievably delicious and my buddies were amazed that burgers could taste so good. It must have been the Chicago-area touch. Unfortunately not long after Miami-based Burger King opened a store a block or two south of them on the same side of the street and business really fell off for Ray's Burgers since the prices were somewhat lower but of course the quality sucked compared to Ray's. Ginny and my aunt Norma had been best friends since World War II days and they had come to visit her and she and Beatrice visited them numerous times over the years.
