Thank you to Alvin Lederer for contributing this great old image.
Andytown consisted of a gas station, convenience store, bait store, restaurant and bar at the southeast corner of U. S. 27 and State Road 84. It was patronized by many travelers, hunters, fishermen and tourists over the years and the bar was patronized by local residents. Greek immigrant Andy Poulos bought the old coffee shop in 1947 and he expanded it over the years. Andy Poulos died in 1972 and was buried back in Greece. His nephew operated the facility until 1979 when the state of Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) bought the property so they could build a new interchange for the new I-75 that was coming across the Everglades Parkway "Alligator Alley" from Naples to western Broward county and then south to the southern terminus at the Palmetto Expressway and NW 138th Street.
