"Cracker Jim started broadcasting at WBAY in Miami in the 1940's and moved to 50,000 watt WMIE and WEDR-FM. For many years he broadcast live from a booth in Shell's City. Brooker also was a promoter and brought top country acts into Dade County and Dinner Key Auditoriums. He sold broadcast advertising and locally hosted recorded national television programs. He was active in creation of the Country Music Association and served on its first board of directors. That organization has grown and now sponsors the CMA Country Music Awards. I'm attaching a publicity shot from the mid 50's."
