Most of the antiwar groups of the 60s (weatherman/sds/blackpanthers) were against the war because they sympathized with communism.

hippies were Americans. It is important to have the freedom to express your political views....as opposed to Cuba in the 50's & 60's etc.....nothing is perfect but never stop supporting our freedoms

Lol, My dad never understood why so many folks wanted to live like bums back then, when he came into the US from with a few bucks in his pocket the first thing he wanted to do is work move up and live the american dream. These hippies were real confusing to Cuban Immigrants who lost it all to Castro and came into the USA to try and start from scratch to rebuild their lives in the USA. I myself never understood hippies :)
