My first visit to the Baseball Hall of Fame was with my in-laws at the time and my father who was visiting them in the summer in the early 1970's. We drove up from Vestal, New York in the early morning and we had a very nice day at the Hall of Fame and Cooperstown. My father was an ardent fan of baseball and he followed his favorite teams throughout every season. Consequently I was a big baseball fan as a kid but after he stopped me from playing on a team at O'Quinn Park in Hialeah I kind of lost interest in baseball. He didn't want me crossing Red Road on a bike because it was two lane, curvy and dangerous at the time (late 1950's) but he effectively killed any career in baseball for me. Nevertheless, he thought he died and went to heaven when he actually got to visit Cooperstown and the Baseball Hall of Fame. At the time the exhibits were scattered in old wooden buildings and not in a modern structure like today's museum. Maybe someday I will find the photos that I took back then and post them in this gallery.
