Grey...........

We went to Columbine Open Space for a walk and I was looking for a particular shot which was not
to be. This little chap hopped onto the path so serves as an excuse for a PAD shot. Normally the
grasshoppers are a few inches or more but in this case it was less than an inch. I'm guessing it's
a young Speckled Rangeland Grasshopper, but I'm not convinced - any ideas?

It's a nikkonious Zebra Striped snapograwesomious. They're growing in numbers around your neck of the woods ;-) Very fine 'grab what's there' image! The eye is amazing. g

No idea on the ID. Terrific color and clarity.

Judging from the size of the wingpads - as far as I can tell here, and the number of antennal segments it is a very early instar of whatever species it is. Seems to be an oedopodine.

Nice shot. I'll be glad when they are all gone.
It's been like a plague over here. The cooler
weather should send them on their way now.
