The rapids on the Oubangui River, at Bangui, are the limit of heavy river navigation. Only small boats are used above the rapids. Below Bangui, the Oubangui is navigable all the way to Brazzaville.
Really enjoyed viewing you pictures of Bangui. The brought back memories. I visited the CAR in August 1967 at the request of Colonel Bokassa because he had seen a picture of a mechanical cotton harvester in a magazine and wanted to introduce mechanical harvesting in the CAR.
