Thinking of taking a break...

I have two avocational passions, photography and cycling.
Right now, I need a break from both of them. But even saying
that out loud make me feel a little low. I've taken breaks
from pbase before, and I'm sure I'll take them again. I might
not even take one right now. But it bothers me when the two
things I love to do so much -- cycling and photography, feel
like an obligation and a chore. That's just not right.

I don't know why this image seems to capture what I'm feeling, but it does.

Seems everybody feels the same way, once in a while we feel like taking a break of posting photos. But after a while, you have feelings again to get some nice shots and share what you've got. :)

That photo is so beautiful but at the same time I feel a little loneliness to see it. maybe they're on their own in the midst of water. Gmv.

Doctor Listorama recommends repeated heavy doses of sandstone and railroads. Hope you feel better!

Very melancholy. I hope the drudgery passes soon.

I am with you completely! You need to break every once in a while. What I find is that one of the passions tends to override the other. Lately, in the last year, I have been doing more photography than bicycling. That's why I'm planning a trip accross the country on my bicycle. Just me, on my bicycle with my camera. Then I'll get enough of both, I believe.

It amazes me you manage both! I gave up the bike to do this and I STILL take breaks. Love this shot. V

Wonderful image. I am having a hard time right now with my photography with everything else going on in my life.

I would have hard time to break from running and bicycle, while a photo break is sometimes good. I guess one is purely body, while the other has more to do with the brain! So your thoughts are floating? I can understand the image.

I know the feeling Gary!

I really like this image but feel that the white frame draws my attention away from it.
My eye wants to explore the plant and the reflection on the water

Definitely no fun when your "hobbies" start feeling like a chore. Hope you start enjoying them both again, soon.
This is a nice shot. Soothing, to me.

This is a very nicely done image Gary. I like the simplicity and the complexity of it. Just like your inner debate!

I've been feeling the same way (3 images posted for July). It's like I feel as though Images I have been shooting lately have been forced.

Keep on biking Gary. Your endorphins will thank you later. When my rides get tedious I find it helps to change the routine; reload the Ipod with a new mix of tunes and find a new route. Pbase will be here when you return, recharged and refreshed! Best wishes for a speedy return to the enthusiastic Gary inside of you.
