When I studied the original image at original size without looking at the EXIF, I immediately thought "Fuji F30" image, for two reasons: Very heavy and blotchy noise reduction and burnt highlights.
While I adore the F30, I know that it severely burns out highlights and I don't think I've ever used it on an image with bright areas without underexposing at least 2 dots.
To deal with the burnt out area on the head I selected it and clone other areas of fur several times to several new layers, each time rotating the cloned area so it wouldn't look duplicated.
The background was very distracting so I blurred it a bit and then added grain to the entire image to make it less smooth looking. I tried to bring out the reflection more with a layer mask bringing forth a bit of detail from the layer below. It was converted to b/w before I started working on it because I couldn't come up with a color a liked. Somewhere along the way I used the "soft blur" setting in Harald Heim's FocalBlade plug in to soften the effects of the noise reduction blockiness from the Fuji.
