As the saying goes... "small world"!!!! I attended Roche Avenue from '56 to '62, as near as I can figure. We left Porterville in '62. I remember one winter when the playground was filled with a surprise inch or so of snow that had come with a rare snow storm there. We were allowed to play all morning!!! It seems that wonderful pool has become abandoned. How sad. Glad these photos were significant to you as well. Curt

Your photos of Porterville are very interesting since I also grew up in this small San Joaquin Valley town also. I was one of the students to first attend Roche Avenue School when this building opened. Before that we went to school in the old wooden building. My guess is that this newer building opened about 1950. Your photos of Porterville stir some of the same memories that you have. Thanks for posting them.
