My friend has a neighbor who had this Cedar Waxwing land on her as she got out of her car. Knowing my friends are birders, the neighbor walked with the bird on her shoulder up to their house. They called me over concerned about what to do. The bird was very tame and seemed in good health so I told them to let it be as I didn't think a wildlife rehabilitater would think it needed help. Larry went into the house to get the bird book so we could see the difference between the Bohemian and the Cedar Waxwing. The bird immediately landed on the book and pecked at it;s own picture. Meanwhile a flock of Cedar Waxwings gathered in the above trees and seemed to be patiently waiting for it's straggler to join up. The lone bird seemed to pay little attention to it's kind, so we are left wondering about the story of this human friendly bird! He must of joined up because he didn't return. We can only wish him well and hope he continues to adapt to his own kind.
