True

I was down in New Haven yesterday afternoon when I saw this sign.
It is REALLY big and REALLY true.
Granted, it is from somebody trying to sell you furniture.
However, the message is clear.
"Home is the most important place in the world".
This might be more true for me than it is for most people.
I value my home very highly.
It is the place in the world that I can relax.
It was one of the two things I fought for in the divorce.
The other was Girly (come on, lets be real).
I think this is what made the divorce even harder on me.
Not only did I have to deal with the rejection
and the pain of my (ex) wife leaving me,
but I also had to deal with the risk to my home.
The biggest relief of having the divorce done is that the uncertainty is over.
Sure, there is stuff that needs to be done before it is complete,
but the risk of losing my home is off the table now.
Everything is down in ink and decided and approved.
I will be remaining in my home where I belong.
Is it the most important place in the world?
It is to me.

Oh, tomorrow makes a week.
So far so good, and speaking of that,
Months ago I wrote something that I am reminded of now.
I wrote how frustrating it was when people would ask me how I was doing.
I kept having to lie and say "fine".
I was being torn up inside by all this.
It was written on my face, everyone could see it.
Well go ahead and ask me now.
Now I can answer "fine" and mean it.
Now it is for real.
I would actually probably answer "Good".
Yeah, I am good now.
2007 was a rough year,
but 2008 will be what I make it.

Have a great day, because I know I will.

Oh, and last but not least: Divorce Advice,
If you ever get divorced, cut yourself some slack.
After court, spend time with friends.
Take the week after off of work so you can recover.
Take the time to get to know yourself in your new state.
Deal with it now so later you can have fun.
Pay the tab, tip well.
Do something your mate hated to do,
don't feel guilty about it.
Live your life, because life is for living!
