Girlfriends Kick Ass

There is no doubt about it, they really do.
Or at least my girlfriend kicks ass.
She puts the "friend" in "girlfriend".

I lay there looking at this for quite a while.
Just the way her hair flowed over her head.
The calm nature of the whole scene was serene.
And as I sit here typing this I am amazed at my good fortune.
I am learning how to have a "relationship" in a new way.
One that grows with our great communication.
One that teaches with gentleness.
One where feelings are spoken because it is worth the risk.
One where minds can change with no penalty.
One where we choose the course we take together.
I went from being jaded and closed to being 14 years old in the blink of an eye.
No matter what happens in our future, this is good.
Because what I feel here will always be with me,
Like a handprint on my heart.
