Just back from Birr having been there tracing my father's family (Connolly's)who lived in Pound Street, since getting back I have found that my Nan, Norah Connolly was a live in nurse for William Knott Fayle at 24 Johns Place in 1901 and that my Grandfather Peter Connolly was a groom at Birr Castle. Had a great time in Birr, thanks to every one who's ears I bent and a special thanks to those lovely people in Sunflowers in Connaught Street. Be back next year hopefully.

My grandfather Thomas Eades (1879-1956)worked in Fayles as a young man and subsequently became owner of the business. Apparently during the 'troubled times' men on the run used to hide in the warehouses at the back of the shop, carefully ignored by the staff and owners. My grandfather and grandmother with their two daughters (Sarah was my mother) lived in St John's Mall and later at Kingsborough, very near by my grandfather's boyhood home in Fortel. I'm currently researching my family tree, which also includes Dunnes, Bennetts, Whelans and Healys.
