A modestly sized grave yard sits on the right side of the road on the way to the first village in Yazgulom, Matravn. About 6,000 people live in Yazgulom, in five different villages. Their language, Yazgulomi, is spoken nowhere else. Yazgulom's residents are Pamiri. The vast majority of Pamiris are Ismaili, but by contrast Yazgulomis practice the Sunni branch of Islam. Photo taken on July 20, 2011 near Matravn, Yazgulom, Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Province, Tajikistan.
