A father sits with his son in a field near their home. The pair live in the valley of Yazgulom, and speak the language Yazgulomi, which is spoken nowhere else. About 6,000 people live in Yazgulom, in five different villages. Yazgulom's residents are Pamiri. The vast majority of Pamiris are Ismaili, but by contrast Yazgulomis practice the Sunni branch of Islam.
