If I may be so boldly presumptuous, it's hard to have a visual conversation without the visuals. So please pardon me for messing with your pixels.
The most expressive "visual Story" here is the relationship of the castle to the loch. It is a scene of granduer which is essentially wide as I mentioned before.
The bridge has a lot of the image's real estate, so I cropped that back some to shift the focus back to the primary subject, the Castle.
The Sky: As much as I like dramatic clouds, they are a "Universal" element. By that I mean you can be anywhere on the planet and look up and you can see sky and when they appear, clouds. So in fact they don't really add anything to what makes this place unique and special per se. What is unique and special is the castle and the loch, so it logically follows that that should be the dominant compositional strategy. So I shifted the horizon up and sacrificed the gorgeous clouds to emphasize where the primary subject is. An artist collects these sort of distinctions and adds them to the 'ol bag-of-tricks until it becomes more of a personal style.
I warmed it up a bit in Lab Color as cool tones are less appealing (as a general principle).
Straightened the horizon a bit.
