Big Basin to the Coast

 This started out as a day trip to Big Basin Redwoods State Park, California.

After touring the creeks, waterfalls and some trails in Big Basin, I started wandering down the hill on some snakey back roads to the small village of Davenport on the coast to catch the last-light.  It all ended up as a race northward up highway 1 to catch some interesting scenes before the quickly disappearing sun lost the sweet last light that was fading into the vast stretches of the Pacific….

The best light is the very last light, but it is ever so brief and everytime it has a different story to reveal.  The hard part is to quickly settle on the best spot to take in the grand spectacle of the moments just before and just after the sun sizzles into the sea

These are the best photos that I have seen of the nor cal coastline. The Lastlight series at Gazos Creek are my favorite. Zane is very talented.
