Antarctica (2003)

This gallery contains photos from our Galapagos Travel/Oceanwide Expeditions voyage to the Southern Ocean in January 2003 aboard the Grigoriy Mikheev. Starting in Ushuaia (Argentina), the southernmost city in the world, we sailed to the Falkland Islands, South Georgia Island, then to the Antarctic Peninsula. What a fantastic adventure!

Thank you for sharing these amazing photos! I am reading Jenny Diski's book "Skating to Antarctica" (a wonderful book!) and it was very nice to be able to see photos of the places mentioned in the book.

Sitting at my desk, in my office, in Québec City, Canada, looking at these images is a dream... Far away, in the absolute depth of my soul, there will always be a longing for these rugged landscapes, so pure and infinitely free. Thank you for that glimpse, so beautifull, so inspiring, into what remains THE place I would most like to set foot some day... not too far away in time I hope!

Georgia, thanks for the kind words but you need to know that your Antarctica gallery was our inspiration! The expedition was absolutely fantastic and yes, that 10X zoom is priceless!

This looks like it was a fantastic trip! And your photos are excellent! It DOES help to have that 10X zoom, does it not?? This is where those little Olympus cameras really shine! But the photos are only as good as the guy who clicks the shutter; yours are outstanding!
