testing a 20+ year old 300/4.5 ED~IF and EXIF & metering reporting. It doesn't come through all that well on the web, but for an f/5 aperture and 1/160 second hand-held in open afternoon shade, the old skinny 300/4.5 actually turns in a very good bit of fine detail resolution within the admittedly narrow depth of field band at minimum focusing distance. And a surprisingly good,accurate exposure from matrrix metering with a non-chipped lens.
