Harrier Landing 9483.JPG

RAF Cottesmore view map

An RAF Harrier on final approach to land at Cottesmore. The Harrier uses Vectored Thrust for various purposes, it can even hover or fly backwards!. Or, it can use the nozzles when swung down to bring it in to land slowly. I had not thought about this until a couple of seconds AFTER I took this picture. You can see the thrusters pointing down either side of the air-intakes, there is a LOT of thrust from them....:-) I hope to have my hearing back some time soon... I don't know where my hat went !
